Opsite® IV3000 Tape

Opsite® IV3000 Tape

The tape included with Sof-sets has been changed to Opsite IV3000. This new tape is designed to be easier to apply, more comfortable to wear, and is hypo-allergenic which lessens the risk of skin irritation. It is also made of a breathable membrane that helps wick perspiration and moisture away from the skin.

Here are a few useful hints to follow when applying the tape. First, prep the infusion site with IV Prep, Skin Prep or some other type of prep prior to inserting the Sof-set. Be sure to allow the area to air dry before inserting and taping down the set. It works best to tape directly to the skin and not to another piece of tape.

Once the set is inserted, remove the backing paper marked #1 and place the hole in the dressing over the introducer needle with the adhesive side facing down. Orient the tape so the longer edge runs in the same direction as the wings of the Sof-set. Mold the dressing securely around the hole by running your finger from the center to the outside edge of the tape as if you were applying wallpaper.

Next, remove the backing paper market #2 and repeat the same process. Finally, remove the dressing carrier marked #3 and firmly smooth down the tape from the center to the edge one last time. Your Sof-set should now be secured and you are ready to begin pumping!

Everybody is different, and one tape will not be perfect for every pump wearer. For people who need greater "gripping power," the former tape supplied with Sof-set can be purchased separately. Polyskin tapes and IV3000 are also available.
