What to Bring to Camp

Summer heat and perspiration can spoil your insulin and your infusion site if you aren't careful (see Wearing Your Pump in Pump Tips on this site for tips that can help during the hot summer months).

So bring more supplies than you expect to use:

  • Extra pump insulin, reservoirs, batteries, infusion sets, Serter™, tape and I.V. Prep®
  • Meter and supplies, including extra strips
  • Emergency kit: Longer-acting insulin, syringes, Glucagon, ketone strips
  • Glucose tablets
  • Medical ID
  • All prescriptions, insurance, physician contact info.

Tip: Our new online store offers convenient, 24-hour shopping for most pump and diabetes care supplies.

Before you leave home:

  • Label your pump with your name.
  • Record basal rates: These are often changed at camp in response to increased activity.

At camp (and always): Use a pump log book.

Be prepared, and you'll enjoy the summer!
