Phone troubleshooting

What happens if my phone is lost or damaged?

Your pump will continue delivering insulin based on its most recent settings. If you are using SmartGuardTM technology, automated insulin delivery will continue as long as your sensor stays connected to the pump.

Because MiniMed FlexTM is designed to be controlled through a phone, you will need a phone to use your pump. We recommend you download and login to the MiniMed app on a new compatible phone as soon as possible.

If you need help, get support on the pairing and unpairing process. Once paired, your insulin delivery and glucose alert settings will automatically load, so you won’t need to enter them again.

Will my pump keep working without my phone?

Add icon collapse icon

Your MiniMed FlexTM pump will continue to deliver insulin based on your most recent settings and mode. In SmartGuardTM mode, if your sensor is connected, the system will continue delivering automatic basal insulin and auto correction doses. In Manual mode, it will continue your programmed basal insulin. You'll also receive light and sound alerts from your pump based on your settings.

However, without your phone, you won’t be able to give a bolus or manage alerts. For the best and safest experience, try to keep your phone within 20 feet of your pump whenever possible.

Can I still deliver a bolus without my phone?

Add icon collapse icon

No, to deliver a bolus you need to use the MiniMed app on a compatible phone.

How does Bluetooth range affect my connection to the pump?

Add icon collapse icon

The pump, sensor and mobile device use Bluetooth to communicate and will communicate within a 20-foot range. If there is any trouble with communication, try moving devices within 6 feet of each other.

When using the Instinct sensor, it’s important to wear the Instinct sensor and the pump on the same side of the body so that they are in line of sight of each other. The infusion set can be worn on either side.
